One day I awoke and the world had gone to hell.
Tall secure buildings had collapsed
leaving behind a memorial for innocent murdered people.
War raged on making me sick.
Hometown stores closed where customers were known by name
Everyone was rushed,
noise was everywhere,
silence had vanished.
Religion was used for suicide.
Hurricanes, earthquakes, and stress brought devastation.
I did not know what to do
so I prayed, and I kept my presence
.
Both feet planted, faithful,
letting the fears wash over.
I thought of all the little children.
How could I ever welcome them to such a scary place
as a world that had gone to hell.
So I put my little granddaughters on my lap
And looked into their eager blue eyes
And I spoke from my heart to their hearts
Welcome to this world
I am glad you were born
you will have your chance
to live
for all you are meant to be
The rains will come and the sun will shine
There will be dancing in the streets
But sometimes you will cry yourself to sleep
And sometimes blessings will keep you up all night long.
Welcome to the world, little Stella and Julia,
This world can be scary and leave you to wonder
But there are incredible possibilities and promises
Hope will be with you, even when you are asleep
So learn to live your life
without hesitation,with bold steps
Face straight on what is in front of you
But remember to say your prayers
Both feet planted, faithful, heeding your personal calling
And remember each day to keep your presence
That alone will make the difference.
